Our History

  Olivet Christian College was established in 1979 as a non-denominational co-educational Christian school for Years P-9 students. Application for Year 10 in 2010 is currently pending.

Situated in Central Victoria (near Castlemaine) three College-owned buses will run daily from Bendigo (Kangaroo Flat and Strathfieldsaye) and another from Maryborough via Carisbrook and Newstead in 2010.

Olivet has a caring family atmosphere and a strong emphasis on developing character. All staff are committed Christians with a passion as teachers to see their students achieve success in demonstrating academic excellence and moral character consistently. Highlights include excellent NAPLAN results, strong work ethic among students, Buddy program, healthy staff-student relations and coverage of all key learning areas of the National Statements of Learning.

Christian Education is seen as a partnership with parents to encourage, equip and empower students for life. The main mission of the college is to prepare students effectively, spiritually and academically, for today’s world.

The College uses, as part of its overall program, the Biblically-based Accelerated Christian Education curriculum which is designed to help students develop character, a sense of accountability and wisdom in their lives.

The total curriculum utilises individual learning as well as group learning. The College is committed to a program of continual improvement and development in the quality and scope of the education provided. Standards of personal conduct, school policies and curriculum aim to continue to build students’ sense of responsibility and integrity.

Olivet provides an ordered, supportive, stable and academically challenging learning environment within an atmosphere of Christian love and discipline. The College endeavours to encourage all students to achieve their God-given potential, to equip them with the necessary life skills needed, and to empower them to be confident, active participants in the community in which they will serve.

Over the past 30 years, Olivet Christian College has been so blessed as God has grown the College in both the buildings and in the student body, and so many of His blessings have come through the parents, staff, teachers and others who have selflessly given of themselves so that children can have the wonderful benefit of a sound Christian education.
